DFI / ADSC Micropile Specification Update

The DFI / ADSC Joint Micropile Committee is currently in the process of updating the 2003 Guide to Drafting a Specification for Micropiles to bring it more in line with the current state of knowledge and practice. Over the next few months, workshops will be taking place to review and modify the guide. If you are familiar with this document and have input as to what would be useful to you in the upcoming version of the guide, your input is welcome and needed. If you don’t currently have the Guide to Drafting a Specification for Micropiles document, it can be purchased online from DFI (www.dfi.org) or from the ADSC Technical Library (www.adsc-iafd.com).

ISM – International Workshop on Micropiles

The International Society for Micropiles (ISM) will be holding their 10th International Workshop on Micropiles in Washington DC on September 22 through September 25, 2010 at the Waterview Conference Center. Registration information is available at www.ismicropiles.org.

I will be presenting a case history on tension micropiles for rehabilitation of the Kinzua Viaduct at the Short Course on Wednesday, September 22; giving an update on the activities of the DFI / ADSC Micropile Committee on Friday, September 24; and presenting a case history on the use of hollow bar micropiles for settlement control in soft soils on Saturday, September 25.

If you are in the DC area and are interested in micropiles, this is a rare opportunity to attend an International Workshop on Micropiles at a local venue. I hope to see you there.
